"My Dad was in radio for 20 years, so I learned early on that great pop songs are all about the melody, and a driving beat, fast or slow. I went through phases: guitar hero, jazz/blues period, world music, even country. But the songs that will live on are those that with both strong melodies and irresistible beats. And songs with a great lyric on top of that- those are the true classics."
Curtis Wayne was in England, stuyding on scholarship, when he had an epiphany: he could be a rock star. Or a meteor. Or some kind of spacey thing. So instead of coming home, he stayed in England, formed the band Sugarfoot, released an EP, toured and recorded A Moment in the Real World. After 3 years, he flew back to Texas, formed the Valley Musicians Group (VMG). After a year in San Antonio, Curtis made his way to Austin, where he uses his powers for good, not evil. He has just released his latest album, Groove Tales and now plans a global assault on funk sensibilities. Prepare yourselves.
