CHAMBER OF ECHOES - NEVER UNDERE

With a name like "Chamber of Echoes," one might expect a large band with room filling sound. Well, in this case, the room filling sound is obtained through the music of a one person phenom named Klaryssa Korol, who virtually single-handedly provides the vocals, programming, drum machines, synthesizer, samples and loops that make up her sound.

Klaryssa has been involved with music since she was a mere child of eight, and began the project she calls Chamber of Echoes when she turned 18. She describes the sound as industrial, alternative, dance rock, and lists her influences as Nine Inch Nails, Evanescence and Depeche Mode.

Klaryssa was courted by a major studio to do her EP. The studio wanted to use producers Jay Baumgardner (Evanescence, Incubus, Linkin Park) and Jay Gordon (Orgy) for the project. To Klaryssa, the project was a bust, as the studio wanted to change the lyrics and style of her music as well as change her look. In other words, they wanted to take over creative control and destroyed the project. So Klaryssa decided to do it herself.

She met her friend David at Starbucks one day to talk about her experience, and David referred her to ArtiSans Label. At ArtiSans, Klaryssa was able to reproduce and redo the entire project - 85% of the music is performed solo by her. In addition, she did all the artwork herself.

The resulting product, a two-disk CD, contains both the "major studio" Version, as well as the ArtiSans version. One version is called "Unbound and Set Free," while the other is called "Under Lock and Key." The CD insert pulls out in the shape of a cross.

Klaryssa's songs stem metaphorically from her young life, complete with bad influences, death and depression. The last song, "The Shade of my Spirit," is her most moving. She wrote it at a time when her grandparents had just died and she felt that all the love had been drained from her life because half her family was dead. To top that off, her boyfriend has also broken up with her. The song is a diary that exposes the core of Klaryssa's feelings about herself and love, and how hard it is to get it back. Klaryssa's lyrics are not watered down and are deeply emotional, creating a sense of intimacy between Klaryssa and her listeners.

She is currently in rehearsal with her band and preparing to hit the road to support the release of the double CD, which includes performances at the Sound Art Media event for music and art as well as the Dreams & Nightmares event at the Aqua Lounge in Beverly Hills on February 25, 2010.
