MICHEAL JACKSON

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER AS GREAT AS YOU.

I remember when Micheal and his brothers known then as THE JACKSON 5, released their first single titled; "BIG BOY" and the flip side was titled; "YOU'VE CHANGED", on STEEL TOWN RECORDS before they were signed at MOTOWN.

I was going to BECKMAN JONIOR HIGH SCHOOL in GARY, INDIANA alone with MICHEAL'S brother, JERMAINE back in 1967-68. I didn't know him and he didn't know me but I remmeber seeing him in the hallways of BECKMAN and knew that he was in a band.

The JACSON 5 used to perform at our school before they released their first record. They use to perform at our assemblies and dances and also half time at ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL games.

I remember when ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL won the state championship and right after the game there was a small perade to celebrate the win down Broadway and THE JACKSON 5 was in the parade riding on the roof of their van with their father driving it.

My father WILLIAM BRYANT SR. and their father JOE JACKSON used to work at US STEEL Corp. like so many of our parents back in the 60's trying to put food on the table and keep a roof over our head.

We were all poor but proud growing up back then where MARTIN LUTHER KING JR, MALCOM X, BOBBY KENNDY, and other great people were alive and dealing with the times, THE VIETNAM WAR and the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, so music was very important back then with MOTOWN and other great legendary acts songs playing on the radio and even then the people of GARY, INDIANA knew that MICHEAL and his brothers were going to be famous one day.

So we salute you MICHEAL for being a shinning light in all of our lives and also to your family that showed that with hard work and dedication you can succeed even when the odds are stacked against you.

So from the BRYANT family to the JACKSON family....

But, they also come with a unique style of their own and are just as potent when they are performing EARTH WIND & FIRE'S "Reasons" or BRYANT JR.'S "Definitely".
