Brian James is a singer/songwriter with his feet firmly planted in the pop/rock tradition. His songs run the gamut from heart-felt ballads to hard-driving rock. You can hear influences from Jazz, to R&B, to the British Invasion here, all blended with sincerity and a dash of sarcasm into a clear, well-produced musical voice.

Brian S. James

Brian has worked with a distinguished array of well-known musicians, producers and recording artists over the course of his career as a drummer, vocalist and songwriter.
After working in the San Francisco bay area for several years in a wide variety of musical genres, and with some of the area's top musicians, (including members of the Doobie Brothers, Tower of Power and others) Brian accepted an offer in Los Angeles to work with singer/songwriter Stephen Bishop. Over the next several years, Brian performed, recorded, and did television appearances with Stephen.
He subsequently has worked with many other Los Angeles-based recording artists, including the Stations (Bishop's backing band), the Rubinoos, Hearts & Minds, and Western Vacation (a band comprised of Frank Zappa & Steve Vai alumni). He also has many commercial, television, and film credits to his name.
Most recently, his song "Arms of the Enemy", co-written with Gary Cambra and Fee Waybill was recorded by The Tubes, and released on their album, "Genius of America".
He also just wrapped production on two songs for the #1 selling South African alternative rock band, Contra.
Brian now focuses his talents primarily on songwriting and production.
