I am a singer/songwriter who has spent the last three years studying music at the University of Southampton. I graduate from there in July 2007 with upper second class honours.

Most recently I have independently released my own CD 'Reflections' through my myspace, a project I independently wrote, recorded and produced as part of my degree.

I have just moved back to Cardiff from Southampton but in the future I hope to reach more audiences with my music and form a new band to tour with that.

Soulshakin' Welshman

An admirable personality, upcoming singer/songwriter Ben Cowley makes it his goal to bring something fresh and exciting to audiences worldwide. Rooted uniquely in the pop genre, influences come from english, spanish, african and indian music across many genres, a real indication of the multicultural guy that is Ben Cowley.

Growing up in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, Ben's passion for writing and performing stemmed from his involvement with the world famous 'Welsh National Opera'. He toured with the 1998 production of 'Boris Godunov' starring alongside Jamaican legend, Willard White - someone Ben describes as having 'true soul quality'.

Lyrically honest and vocally soulful, Ben has many musical influences which include Lauryn Hill, Luther Vandross and contemporaries such as Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake. His indulgence into the latin sounds of Spanish pop music began in his early teens and he later took Spanish classes to enhance his communication skills in that language. An exploration of the Bollywood culture followed later and the influences became fused together in an original style, representative of Cowley's identity. Ben has also played in many bands including the Soul/Funk 'Ben Davros Experience' and vocal trio 'Amalgamation'.

To mass applause he performed his own interpretation of a Bollywood classic in Hindi at Southampton's Masti Cultural Show 2006 which Southampton Daily Echo called 'a highlight' and 'word perfect'. Truly multicultural, such diverse influences bring a real uniqueness often uncommon in a repetitive music industry. That was followed up in 2007's 'Saaythiya' Cultural Show where Ben performed the Hindi 'Jhuki Jhuki' from the movie 'Chocolate' and an Indian take on Britney Spears's 'Me Against The Music' with six female dancers. This was covered by various media outlets including BBC South Today. A DVD of the entire 'Saaythiya Cultural Show' was released to buy in April 2007.

Most recently Ben graduated from a music degree at Southampton University with upper second class honours and has unleashed his self-produced debut release 'Reflections' exclusively through his myspace.
