Allen Snider was lead singer and guitarist with 1960s rock bands, Mellow Street Syndicate and Sledge, playing or jamming with such artists as Skeet Seaton, Jimmy Allen, Robert Schneider, Adrian Seaton, Larry Shirley, Tommy Darnell, James Rutledge, Ronny Webb, Ed Darnell, and others. Having played bluegrass gospel, praise, 60s & 70s rock, and experimented with stomp boxes and Wah Wah, Allen is discovering a new sound, still experimenting with lyrics and a combination of gritty guitar sounds with electonic accompaniment. Expect songs written in those earlier years by Allen to resurface with new form, updated lyrics, and a fresh voice. New music is inspired by sleepless nights, a life of influences, a reason to play and sing a meld of blues and Christian praise.

Music in My Blood

Allen grew up in Helena and West Helena, Arkansas, not far from Memphis and Clarksdale, Mississippi. It was the country of Conway Twitty, Elvis Presley, Levon Helm, Sonny Boy Williamson, and others. Uncle Carroll Strother played briefly with Levon Helm. Helena in the heart of the blues, rock, jazz, and country.
