VANCE MARINO is an experienced teacher as well as a seasoned singer, guitarist, bassist, and composer who began his professional music career at the age of 16.

VANCE and his wife TRACEY compose music for film & TV. Their song "Carnival Lights" was placed in the new Disney film "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks, starring Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear. They also have music on the Travel Channel's show "Man v. Food," WeTV's "Little Miss Perfect," and they write for a very popular daytime talk show and its affiliates.

Since 1995, Vance has been teaching bass and guitar (electric, acoustic, nylon-string, etc.) to students of all ages and levels from beginner to advanced. Styles include: rock, pop, country, blues, etc. His students enjoy his friendly approach and sense of humor.

BIOGRAPHY OF VANCE MARINO

VANCE MARINO is a singer, guitarist, bassist, and who began his professional music career at the age of 16. He started teaching guitar and bass in 1995 at the former Tradway's in Ramona and in 1997 started teaching at Ozzie's in Poway.

A native Hawaiian, Vance learned how to play guitar when he was 10 and became proficient on many different instruments while attending Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii's Leeward College. By the age of 16, he was playing and singing in many country, rock, and blues bands in Hawaii, Arizona, and California.

Vance became fascinated with recording when he was in junior high school and now composes and produces music for film & TV along with his wife, Tracey James Marino. They have several songs published in guitar & piano instruction books.

In 1989, he formed a popular San Diego blues-rock band "Four On The Floor" and was the lead guitarist, singer, and arranger. The band performed at the (Del Mar) San Diego County Fair, Balboa Park annual "Battle Of The Bands," and many other local venues.

Vance teaches: how to play lead guitar; different strumming techniques; note reading and how to play "by ear"; how to play from tablature (tab), lead sheets, chord charts; tips on how to play in a band or musical group. Many of Vance's students have gone on to music colleges such as Berklee School of Music and have become professional musicians and teachers as well.

From 1997 to 2009, Vance played classical guitar for the weekly Saturday afternoon high-tea hour at the famed Rancho Bernardo Inn & Resort. His classical guitar Christmas CD, "Comfort & Joy," is available on Amazon or CDBaby (see ALBUMS page above).
