UnBand Music
UnBand Music is a publishing concern which was developed to support the works of the ever evolving Upscale Nouveau-Technoid Band (Ken Dave)
From modest beginnings, playing a fretless bass made from a converted guitar I helped found a band called the Soul Messengers , which led to being part of a backup band The Syndicate.
Later while touring with a number of bands in the Columbus area it became evident that the voice of fusion must be heard, at which point I helped formed a group called Journey's End. The band enjoyed limited success in the area for about a year.
About that time I had been listening to Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Weather Report, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Return to Forever. When I heard Stanley Clarke. "At that instant I knew I had to find something else to play " ! "The bass just didn't have enough range for my ideas not to mention I'll never play it that well".
After a 2 year hiatus (in Tech School) I picked up guitar and began writing songs. I teamed up with Michael Hester and Eric Oneal and formed MDO. This unit produced many songs which are now part of the UnBand Music Catalog.
In 1982 I was introduced to sequencing by Cornell Scott. and it's been non-stop since then. "I finally found the right band for composing. No egos, just progress". The UnBand was born!
