Born to to a single parent in working-class area of Brooklyn, rapper/Poet King Pleasure first discovered hip-hop when his cousin played him grand master flash's "the message" Instantly hooked, King Pleasure began listening to rap,soul and funk incessantly, soaking up the sounds of Chaka kahn,Teddy Pendergrass and Parliament Funkadelic .As he matured his love of music became even more eclectic and Hip Hop stayed center stage.Gang Starr, Dela Soul, Nas, A tribe called Quest, Public Enemy MF Doom, Mad lib and Black star lit up his headphones.Feeling that something was missing and frustrated with the current state of hip hop. King Pleasure picked up the pen and here we are.
