We Just Wanna Rock Your Soul

Soul On Ice was started by Troy Hendricks and David Alexander. We wanted to make music that was subtly outside of the box, but not too far away from the music we love.We wanted to break the cookie cutter mold of R&B/Soul. They say we're a Soul band, but I say we are so much more. This aint rocket science, and we didn't reinvent the wheel, but we are music lovers with a desire to make music similar to that which we love. We are from various backgrounds and experiences looking to broaden the scope of our artistry. We are learning and growing, having been together only a short while, and anyone not learning and growing is dead! We push the envelope of genres and labeling by combining various elements on each track. Not one of our songs uses only one style, and though rooted in Bluesy Soul, we listen to and apply rock, reggae/Dancehall, and funk, as well as other styles, to our own sound. What do you hear when you listen? Is it just about the beat? Or do our songs hit you in the stomach, prompting a particular emotion. We are inspired to find innovative approaches to writing,recording and performing based on principles and spirit of those before us, once again, we're not reinventing the wheel. We do not wish to put out, over produced, pro tools heavy assisted material, As we expose ourselves to an ever growing, and ecclectic consumer, we desire to serve lovers of gritty urban Soul, people who want sincerity and realness as well as fun and inspiration, and recognize and respect genuine original artistry.
