Song Description

This song is about never giving up in the face of adversity. I grew up around cowboys and it seemed to me that they lived a very difficult lives, but every cowboy I new met each challenge head on.

Lyrics

Early in the morning - shake the sleep out of my head
Out all night a drinking - won?t change the day ahead
Work all day to pay the rent ? it feels like all I do
If the boss man tells me one more thing ? he?s gonna wind up black and blue

And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down
Cause I?ve got hard work on left of me
Obligations on the right, I can?t get done
And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down

Jenny?s in the kitchen - stuck raising all the kids
She keeps a list a mile long ? of everything that I?ve done wrong
One more chance is all she?ll give ? to this redneck number one
So please don?t mention last night ? cause if she knew then I?d be dead

And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down
Cause I?ve got hard work on left of me
Obligations on the right, I can?t get done
And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down
I?ve got every foolish banker
Thinking they can run this old boy down
But I?m too tough? Can?t hold this cowboy down

And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down
Cause I?ve got hard work on left of me
Obligations on the right, I can?t get done
And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down
I?ve got every foolish banker
Thinking they can run this old boy down
But I?m too tough? Can?t hold this cowboy down
And I say ? oh?
Can?t hold this cowboy down
