Nightingale

Story Behind The Song

Semi-autobiographical song.

Song Description

A song in the first perspective. The singer is walking in the early evening hours - he sees an elderly woman laying flowers on a grave, presumably for her husband, this being an example of 'old love'. The singer then sees a teenage girl getting ready to go to a dance, this being an example of young love. The singer then reflects on his own desire to call someone who has been on his mind (20-something love). Finally the singer walks down to the creek and has a spiritual sort of baptism experience, and leaves feeling renewed and hopeful.
