Man's Intuition

Story Behind The Song

One of the earlier songs of West of Rome, it kind of foundered for a couple of years before we put it on "Drunk Tank Decoy" in a really clean recording.

Song Description

A play on the concept of a "woman's intuition" that, at first, may seem to be misogynistic, but as the bridge reveals, it's a rip on men's sleep-around ways. This is meant to be a fun song -- rock/country feel, with guitar, bass, drums and piano. Chords are all over the place, but should still sound like it's simple.

Lyrics

Davy was a boy with a two-timing nature and a sweet, honest smile on his face,
Wendy and Janey didn't know they was playing in his prime-time libido sweepstakes,
Now Janey got wise, saw cheating in his eyes, Davy knew he had some choosing to do,
With his Man's Intuition it was Janey he was ditching, can't trust no one that doesn't trust you.

A man's intuition,
He had a man's intuition in his head
He don't need to talk about his feelings
He uses man's intuition instead
He uses man's intuition instead.

Billy often did it with a girl named Bridget when his three kids' mama was away.
Said he couldn't help it, gonna try and 12-step it, gonna be a new man someday,
With his man's intuition knew his wife was wishing she could some day change him all by herself,
So Billy keeps slipping and his wife keeps bitching, he'll keep her hanging till he leaves her himself.

A man's intuition,
He had a man's intuition in his head
He don't need to talk about his feelings
He uses man's intuition instead
He uses man's intuition instead.

A man's intuition's got no inhibitions doesn't need to be explained away.
A man's intuition's just pure ambition and it doesn't take a genius to say,
Man's intuition takes the reins the time your conscience and your reason, take a vacation day!

(guitar solo)

A man's intuition,
He had a man's intuition in his head
He don't need to talk about his feelings
He uses man's intuition instead
He uses man's intuition instead.
