The Lonestar

Story Behind The Song

I visited a relative in Houston and she invited some friends over. They all started talking about guns and one woman talked about the special 'purse gun' she had that is minus the big hammer so it doesn't get caught on the purse!!!! At the same time Rush Limbaugh rooms were springing up everywhere, BUT , Anne Richards (Democrat) was in power as governor in Texas's arts and intellectual capitol, Austin. I felt there was hope. That's all surpassed but the tune is open to lyric changes in the chorus if anyone wants to cover this.

Song Description

Texas is most representative of gun culture in the United States. From the woman who carries one in her purse to the asasination of JFK But there's hope, at least there was hope, when Anne Richards was governor.

like the piano work, the vocal works well with this tune, the lyrics QUALITY...as is the song writing,,,nice to hear some very good writing with "attitude"!! hi ho Silver...LOL.

Nice slow folk song. Love some of the harmonies, and the chord progressions feel very natural throughout, gives the song a satisfying kind of sound. Great sounding instrumentation, also recorded very well. Good vocal, sung with feeling.

The instrumentation and arrangement stand out as excellent. The passion of the vocalist shines through.
