Story Behind The Song
Don Collins brough this song to us a few weeks ago...it was his first song and he wanted to cut a demo. It needed some work so I helped him re-write it and we put it together. It's a song about the dad he never had and the dad he is today.

Lyrics
Daddy worked hard all his life
He met a girl and he made her his wife
Then came me
I guess I was the first
He was a cowboy back in his day
Through sweat and blood he paid his way
I guess you could say
He paid his dues
And He'd say
Life is hard from the git go
Life don't always go with the flow
Take it from me, I've been down that road
And he'd say, son you've always go to do your best
Life's a game but you can pass the test
Have faith in God, he'll take care of the rest
Daddy lost his job you see
It just my dad my mom and me
But daddy made sure that
He kept us all fed
He's been gone now for thirteen years
Sometimes I just can't hold back the tears
And if he was here
I know just what he'd say
Repeat Chorus:
The year is 2003
I've got my own family
And I know now
What my daddy went through
I lost my job at the factory
It just my wife, my son and me
But I made sure
That I kept them all fed
Now I say...
Repeat Chorus:
Repeat Chorus:
Daddy worked hard all his life
He met a girl and he made her his wife
