Story Behind The Song
This was the first original piece I wrote for my a-cappella group "Euphonia". I used the lyrics of an old Bulgarian folk song.
Song Description
A slow rubato a-cappella song (SATB). A dialogue between a yang man in love and a pretty girl. The title "Sevdice" is diminutive from "sevda" - an old word with Turkish origin, meaning "love". The melody line and the general mood of the piece evoke the typical Bulgarian broad folk songs. The setting is inspired by the Bulgarian traditional polyphonic singing.

Lyrics
(Translation from Bulgarian):
My love, my lovely bird,
you set a fire on my heart.
Can you quench it?
I can, I can, yang man -
over there is a cold water,
it cools down yang men's hearts.
Lovely girl, you can not cool down a heart
with water,
you can do it with your black eyes and your pretty face.
My love, my lovely bird,
you set a fire on my heart.
My love...
