Story Behind The Song
Old Hawaiian Style is our tribute to our families (ohana) and Hawaiian culture. The members of Hawaiian Soul trace their roots to the islands -- the Polynesian culture, our parents who raised us to respect that culture, and our obligation to carry on the tradition, even though our homes are now miles away from the sandy beaches and blue skies of Hawaii.

Lyrics
Old Hawaiian Style
By Steve Ventic
People always ask about my life
How things were growing up
And how I always manage to smile
Even when things rough
I tell them that I'm from the islands
And there I was born and raised
And I carry all that I've learned
With me each and every day
It's how I was raised
In that good old island way
We were always taught
The right thing to do
I thank my mother
And my father
For teaching me as a child
I give my respect
To that old Hawaiian style
Memories of all I've been through
Growing up on the windward side
My mother taught me the true Hawaiian style
It's how I was raised
In that good old island way
We were always taught
The right thing to do
I thank my mother
And my father
For teaching me as a child
I give my respect
To that old Hawaiian style ...
