Let Me Breathe

Story Behind The Song

When Pale recorded this song at Farm Fresh Studios in Bloomington Indiana engineer Jake Belser said he was going to make it his mission to get this song on the FX television show Rescue Me. The words 'rescue me' do appear in the lyric for this song, as serving as it's general theme. Beyond that though this song screams to be included in some poignant Hollywood, lost then rediscovered and eventually hopeful love scene. This song started out a completely different beast than what it become. It started out as an uptempo, smiley, jangly, acoustic pop song. After many hours of arguments between writers and producer it eventually turned into the emotional, moody pop song it is.

Song Description

This track starts off with an electric guitar melody line that sets the mood for the rest of the song. In the verses smooth vocals float over a hip drum loop and build into a chorus where the electric guitar returns with it's anthemic melody. The drum kit joins in as well as piano for the second verse and chorus and the band rocks out a bit on the insrumental bridge before a stripped down third verse of vocals, bass, and acoustic guitar build back up to a double outro chorus.

Lyrics

--MIX MINUS AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRACK--

When there's nothing wrong there's nothing to say
I wanted the best to come your way
I never thought I could believe
I would need someone to rescue me

Wake me up
Because I'm coming down and I feel a bit emotional
Climb the walls surrounding me

I feel like I'm dying from the cure
Crying for words but no ones heard
Time hasn't healed these wounds so far
Got nothing to show but all these scars

Wake me up
Because I"m coming down and I feel a bit emotional
Climb the walls surrounding me
Take me up
I like to think I can swallow my emotions and
climb the walls surrounding me

Come on and let me breathe

When nothing is wrong there's nothing to say
I still want the best to come your way
I need you to rescue me
You're like I need to breathe

Wake me up
Because I"m coming down and I feel a bit emotional
Climb the walls surrounding me
Take me up
I like to think I can swallow my emotions and
climb the walls surrounding me
Wake me up
Because I'm coming down and I feel a bit emotional
Climb the walls surrounding me
Take me up
I like to think I can follow my emotions and
Climb the walls surrounding me
Come on and let me breathe
