Song Description

A girl really loves a guy, but he turns out to be a cheater. Her friends say that she'll be fine, the pain won't last, & the girl questions herself. Then she questions the guy, reminding him of how much she loved him & stood by his side, & asks why he did what he did. She decides she's better off without him, & is now somewhat jaded due to her experience with him.

Story Behind the Song

I wrote this song from the viewpoint of a woman who truly loved a guy who ended up cheating on her.

Lyrics

I Know Now

You know they said that I'd be fine, that none of this would last. Am I wasting all my time just living in the past?

I just wanted to see, see it for myself. Remember when you said you'd rather be with me than be with someone else?

Did you ever ask me why I always sang your favorite song? Or why I took your side when I knew that you were wrong?

Were you thinking of me when you called her on the phone? All the things we shared, its as though you never cared, I'm better off alone.

Why did you say those things to me? When I knew you could see that:

I know everything about her.
I know everything you're after.
I know not everything's forever.
I know now.

I just wanted to see, see it for myself. Remember when you said you'd rather be with me than be with someone else?

I know everything about her.
I know everything you're after.
I know not everything's forever.
I know now.
