Lyrics

Return To Nazareth

© 2013 Donovan Tucker BMI

I took a summer road trip
From Memphis we headed north
I took my buddy Luke and his dog JFK
We all called him Jack
Cause he seemed to like that more
He never answered to initials anyway

On our way to New York City Gonna see all the sights
Brooklyn Bridge , Lady Liberty
The house that Ruth built , on a game night
Took a picture at ground zero
I couldn't help but cry
When I thought of all the heroes
And the ones they left behind

CHORUS:
Seems the further you get from home The closer home gets to you
See a face you think you know
Hear an old familiar tune
While you're looking for the answers
You might trip over the clues
Yeah the further you get from home
The closer it gets to you

We drove west thru Pennsylvania
Found Nazareth on the road
Where a man named Christian Martin
Set up shop nine score ago
Our tour guides name was Carmen
She knew all about guitars
Even played a little mandolin after hours

At a downtown filling station
We took a break from all the miles
The mechanics' shirt said Levon, I said that's a cool name he just smiled.
He had a Bible on the counter
Open to the book of Moses
He said "it helps to keep me grounded, keeps the Devil off my shoulder"

Chorus
Last line twice

Nice job Don

Kind of john cage-ish....4:33

Very, very nice writing.

Very nice song. Well played with a great mix. I loved this guys vocals. The entire band is well rehearsed and really nailed it. I would love to hear more from this artist..
