Lyrics

It seems so long but I can still remember
There was a time I had it all
But like a fool I kept looking past the rainbow
What I hoped to find I can?t recall

I?ve been walkin what seems to be forever
Through the streets of this old town
I?m just looking for something to hold on to
Before the darkness takes me down

My father told me when I was still a boy
The years go faster all the time
But now I?m older I think that I?m just getting slower
I see it leaving me behind

Now I ain?t sayin? I?ve never seen some good times
Lord knows I?ve had my share
But I always seem to feel that when I look over my shoulder
I?ll find bad luck waitin? there

You know that we?re all victims of our own creation
Playing out the vision in our minds
We always seem to enter every situation
One step ahead or one behind

One step forward and 2 steps back.
Take another step from side to side
Just like a man in an alcoholic haze
I?ve been wandering through the backroads of my life

Just like a man in an alcoholic haze
I?ve been wandering through the backroads of my life

Sounds rather similar to House of the Rising Sun. But the production is good and the vocals are great. It has a great feel to the song and could have good marketability. I like the lyrics. A little rework to make it a little less like House of the Rising sun.
