Story Behind The Song

There hasn?t been a World?s Fair for quite a while, but there were a string of them in the middle of the last century when we as a culture were full of ourselves. (Are we still? Have we learned?) As a child, I went to the ?64 World?s Fair in New York and was wowed by all things modern. Those modern toys have long since broken. This song is Post-Modern, not as a style or as a world view, but simply as something that comes after Modern. Otherwise, if anything, I?d consider myself a Pre-Modernist.

Song Description

Looking back over the 20th century. Thought I?d give Schoenberg?s 12 tone series a try in pop mode. Choruses, drawn from one of my favorite Psalms, put the last century in perspective.
