Song DescriptionHigh Tide is the title track and new single off of our 2019 EP. The song is about being stuck in an abusive relationship. The denials, the mind games and the loss of happiness and self confidence.
Story Behind the SongI started writing this song on piano. The first line I blurted out was "Love is all you really need but there's a whole other side" and then wrote the lyrics around that line. Then I played the parts on guitar, made some changes and High Tide was born.
Lyrics
You Cannot Run
Caught in the tide
This little game has got you barely hanging on to life
You give it all
Up for love
And now your world is black and blue, you've given up
Love is all you really need but there's a whole other side
The abuse, the excuses, the wasted time
What will it take
To see the truth?
Look in the mirror but that person that you see ain't you
You lost it all
Everything
You're living life just like a puppet hanging on a string
Disconnected and rejected
Now you're wondering why
You feel alone nowhere to go
There's no one on your side
You feel the burn, you live and learn
And recognize your mistakes made
The damage done has just begun
You'll never feel love the same way
