Song Description

This song came together really fast. It practically wrote itself. It's about how some people get trapped in abusive relationships and make every excuse to dismiss the reality of the situation. At some point they realize that all of their friends moved on, life moved on and they got left behind left with nothing but pain and regret. "The abuse, the excuses, the wasted time".

Story Behind the Song

I came up with a 3 note melody on the piano that I kind of liked. I recorded it as a guitar part and played a harmony over it. That became the chorus and the rest of the song came together in a matter of hours. The only thing missing on this track is a guitar solo in the mid section.

Good, driving piece with really good instrumentation. Nice arrangement. Wish there was more like this out there to listen to.

You cannot run
Caught in the tide
This little game has got you
Barely hanging on To life
You gave it all
Up for love
And now your world is black and blue
You've given up

Love is all you really need
But there's a whole other side
The abuse, the excuses
The wasted time

What will it take
To see the truth?
Look in the mirror
But that person that you see ain't you
You lost it all
You're living life
Just like a puppet hanging on a string

Disconnected and rejected
And you're wondering why
You feel alone, nowhere to go
There's no one on your side
You feel the burn, you live and learn
And recognize the mistakes made
The damage done has just begun
You'll never feel love the same way
