Story Behind the Song

Joe's Words: Not so much optimistic as defiant, this was one of the last tunes we recorded. I still love Notch's lyrics on this one, and enjoyed singing it so much that he handled all the guitar work for it both live and in the studio.

Lyrics

Nothing is going my way
The hour?s faded and gone
How much more can I take?
Been holding out for so long
Frustration bleeds my soul?s strength
Emotions shatter like ice
I face defeat after great length
And pay the ultimate price

(Chorus):
This could be the day I?ll finally live my dreams
This could be the day I?ll find my destiny
This could be the day that things will come to me
This could be the day the Tide will Turn

Can?t seem to find my target
Good fortune slips out of range
Another day full of regret
Does anything ever change?

(Repeat Chorus)

I conceal my anger
And paint a smile on my face
Another pawn for the white queen
Another rat in the race

It makes no difference where we get
We?re just a prisoner of time
This fleeting moment that we have
Has got no reason or rhyme

(Repeat Chorus)
