Dogtown

Story Behind The Song

Dogtown, PA., the place I grew up in was like being brought up in Trenchtown, the ghetto-fied, gang infested streets of Philly. We must all be responsible for the deeds our leadlers pursue. They're not strangers but, infact are family members. Our parents and brothers and sisters...that's the level where change needs to take place!

Mi come from Dogtown/mi no come Shanty town/mi come from Hi-town to play Jah music

There's never gain from any way/when we witness death and deplorable living/those captor's ain't winning, oh no/what looks like success is only surface/cause deep in our hearts lies the mistrust and hurt/ah hah

Bridge: Hold all bets Babylon/cause you ain't seen nothing yet/don't dare rest Babylon, your theory is put to the test

Mi come from, come from Dogtown/mi no come from Trenctown no, but, I see it/mi come from, come from G-town to spread Jah message
Mi come from dogtown/mi no come from Kensington/mi come from Hi-town to play Jah music

Rap:

Babylon your ship is sinking, it's got a big ole hole in it/Babylon your ship is going down/down/down
oh, mothers stop cryng/our children, they're gonna stop diying/cause, false leaders gonna stop denying that you tried to hoodwink us
you think you're so smart but, you are the foolish one yeah/oh can't you see we all live under Jah, Jah sun and,

we come from Dogtown/we come from Trenchtown oh yeah/we come from Claringdon, I said and
we are declaring

we come from Louisiana ya'll
we come from the Bible belt
we come from way up North
and,we come from New York
we come from Tennessee
we come from sweet Carolina, my Mama
we come Philadelphia
and, I parlay in sweet Hawaii
we come from Los Angeles, I said
we come from Georgia too, uh hum
