Song Description

End of the Sixties

Story Behind the Song

The Sixties

Yeah, Yeah, yeah the sound that burst out of the TV screen
The moptops sound was drowned out by a mass of teenage screams
Though there were many highs thereafter that would come our way
Nothing stayed in the memory quite like that December day

Harmonies high they pierced the sky
And lit up the darkest heart
Great sounds we'd share on the record player
We didn't know where to start
The candy striped guys from California they criss crossed the globe
Spread good vibrations and a message of peace, universal love

Music made me live
Oh yes, it did
When I heard it on the radio

Boys from Muswill Hill top of the bill when they emerged at last
Ray and the boys made lots of noise then sang about the past
Nostalgic sounds about London town and the way things used to be
They told the story about past glories and the nation's history

In Itchycoo Park we stayed out till dark just to feed our heads
But in the cold light of day things were not ok the future still filled with dread
But as the decade expelled its last breath a band started to take hold
The water was clear, the revival was here, creedence brought back rock'n'roll

Music made me live
Oh yes, it did
When I heard it on the radio

When we awoke, the dream was broken
Reality still in place
Everything the same, nothing had changed
About the human race

Though the flame from the Sixties died long long ago
Many are no longer here
But they come alive once again for me
When a melody fills the air

Music made me live
Oh yes, it did
When I heard it on the radio

Music made me liv
Oh yes, it did
I heard it on the radio
Do you feel it too ?
I'm sure you do
We heard it on the radio
