Song Description

Looking Back

Story Behind the Song

I went to do my "anthology cd" and all of my master tapes were all damaged and had to be restored(See photo). So, I wrote this ditty about that experience!

It's a look through the mirror
It's a look back in time
It's what reappears when we press rewind.
It's a memory jog
Like an old re-run
It's some of the cogs in the things that we've done. Rewind! Press rewind!

Retrace your steps
Re-enact the crime
Re-invent yourself, Rejoice this time.
Reclaim all the goodness
Release all the tears
Re-mix all those long lost lonely years. Rewind. Press rewind!

It's a chance to remember
Been a long time gone
Time fades away like the stars at dawn.
The moments have vanished
But we've captured this song
The sun's on the rise and the moon still holds on.

With each passing year
The stories grow and grow
Me and these tapes are the only ones who know
Just where we've been, and what we've been through
Hell, they had to bake these tapes
To make them sound good for you. Rewind! Press rewind!

So recapture the essence
Remember it's all good
When your banging out your music on an old box of wood
Pick up the pieces
Put em in a book
Close it up and press play, after one long, last look. Rewind! Press rewind!
Play! Press play!
