A rootsy busker-esque ballad about addiction, and hope. "Don't forget because the world forgot you'. A lost soul is sung to, the writer understands how hard it is to be have lost friends and family due to addiction or other issues. The writer cautions that despite all of this there is hope, dreams must be remembered. "Hold on tight, keep looking for an answer, hold on tight, remember younger days when dreams where something you could say you had..." A lullaby of hope for the hopeless and/or homeless. Harmonica and acoustic guitar.

Story Behind the Song

Moved to Vancouver BC a while back where the downtown eastside is notorious for its homelessness and addiction problems. People have given up on many of them. hundreds of women (especially aboriginal/native indian) have gone missing without the police looking for them because they were addicts and marginalized. crushing stories of lost family members and once proud people now on the streets and forgotten. Wnated them to know they were not invisble to everyone.

Lyrics

DON'T FORGET
Written by Reid Jamieson

You know how much it's gonna hurt,
'til that needle is inserted in your vein again.
You try to pretend there is no pain.
But I see it in the stains under your fingernails.
Hold on tight, keep looking for an answer.
Hold on tight, remember younger days,
when dreams were something you could say you had.
Don't forget because the world forgot you.
When night falls is the newspaper your bed?
Does it have you seeing red what the
people with money complain about?
You're drunk on a can of aerosol. And your
tales are getting taller than the will to make it work.
Hold on tight, keep looking for an
answer. Hold on tight, remember younger days when dreams were something you
could say you had.
Don't forget because the world forgot you.
You spoil yourself while
asleep, with sweet precious dreams,
held in the arms of your mother.
It's gone the fire
in your eyes.
The face you recognize is just another sad memory.
Hold on tight, keep looking for an answer.
Hold on tight, remember younger days.
Hold on tight, keep looking for an answer.
Hold on tight, remember younger days,
when dreams were something you could say you had.
Don't forget because the world forgot you.
