Story Behind The Song
After a trip to LA to meet labels, agents and lawyers, the industry had various pieces of advice for Ruth Girls, an all-sister act from Illinois. Comments like "If you dye your hair green and pierce your faces, you'll look tougher", "You should bring back Mowtown - nobody's doing that". "You should be a country act", "Can you dye your hair black? We're not signing blondes now". So they went back to Illinois and continued to do their own thing independently, because, hell, they made it this far.

Lyrics
~ Made it This Far ~
Just keep on, just keep on, just keep on...
Verse 1:
So divided
I keep rewinding
Every body's got too much to say
Hit the highway
Goodbye LA
Going back to doing things my way
Don't ya change my clothes
Don't ya dye my hair
Don't ya pierce my nose
You don't know who I am
Don't ya change my song
'cause you've got me wrong
Gotta do this my way
Chorus:
I'll make it by myself
I can't be someone else
I'll take my chances 'cause I
Made it this far yeah
We're walking out the door
We had it right before
You got your answers but we
Made it this far yeah
Made it this far
Verse 2:
Feeling stronger
'cause I belong here
Keep believing 'cause that's all it takes
This is my voice
This is my choice
Going back to doing things my way
Don't ya change my clothes
Don't ya dye my hair
Don't ya pierce my nose
You don't know who I am
Don't ya change my song
'cause you've got me wrong
Gotta do this my way
Chorus:
I'll make it by myself
I can't be someone else
I'll take my chances 'cause I
Made it this far yeah
We're walking out the door
We had it right before
You got your answers but we
Made it this far yeah
Made it this far
'cause we made it this far yeah
Bridge:
I don't care 'bout the trend
casue I've heard it again and again and again yeah
This is my destiny
And nobody but me
knows who I am
Just keep on, just keep on, just keep on...
