Story Behind The Song
Daughter of a work colleague died tragically. I imagined the longing and heartache of losing a child, clinging to memories instead of a loved one. My goal was to tell that story and hoping for a cathartic effect.
Song Description
How I envisioned a mother longing for her child to come home, realizing she won't because she was there when she was buried. Powerful emotion opposite to the day when she was born. Tragic painful loss must have torn this mom in 2. A young mother un-recognizable after the tragedy, dying not long after her dad passed away. A mom who was clinging to hope and love of her child was powerless to prevent the events that occurred left with only her daughters memory.

Lyrics
Verse
Memories are all that's left
Little notes pictures of us
Blue ribbon that you won
That you were so proud of
Can't hold them to my chest
Your shoes under the bed
They won't be worn again
Empty like the room I can't go in
Chorus
Close my eyes and see your face your walkin' back to me
Without a sound you turn around
And I know it's just a dream
Fade away then disappear
Feels like a scar on my soul
I reach shout please stay here
It hurts to let you go
Verse
Keys in my pocket
Chained to a heart shaped locket
Present on my birthday
Smile on your face
I leave a light on by the door
In case you'll be coming by
See me just once more
Hear those footsteps on my floor
Repeat Chorus
I'd give anything
To look into your eyes
See you looking back at me
Hold you one more time
Tell you how proud I am
Just to hold your hand
Feel your fingers touch
Oh I loved you so much
Repeat Chorus
1/2 Chorus
Fade away then disappear
Feels like a scar on my soul
I reach shout please stay here
It hurts to let you go
