Talk to the wind

Story Behind The Song

Life experience- not abuse- and a memory of the feelings I had when listening to a popular song many yeas ago. Children are innocent victims and that makes me angry. Sadness comes from the fact that his evil exists and continues. I hope that if someone hears this they will speak out and the cycle will be broken. Universal cure may not be possible, but 1 child that no longer suffers is a reward beyond value. Children are precious like time, we have to realize that before they are gone.

Song Description

Child abuse hurts. An attempt to be a voice for those who cannot speak or afraid of speaking. Exposing the torment and helplessness felt by the abused. Empowering those who want nothing more than happiness and love.

Lyrics

Crippled by fear

She swallows her tears

Cries and tries to hold on

Hope nearly gone

String on her finger

Reminds her of a dream

Smiles love sunny days

The world she lives in returns again she trembles and prays

Chorus

Don't let them hurt me

Please make it end

World don't see

What's happening to me

I've got nowhere to hide

Afraid all the time

No one will listen

I can only talk to the wind

Verse

Clothes are worn

Same ones every day

Hide the scars of a secret storm

She looks away

Hopes no one sees the shame

Voice in her head cries out

I'm tired and afraid

Won't you help me before it's too late

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

Night after night there's a little one

Wonderin' if better days will come

Stares out the window

Cries on her pillow

Repeat Chorus

Talk to the wind

With "Talk To The Wind," songwriter Paul Reidy has composed a beautiful and poignant wake-up call to the scourge of child abuse in our society. The storytelling and music deliver a heartfelt plea from the singer for the audience to listen to her plight and come to her rescue--but her words go unanswered and she feels that she can only "talk to the wind." A brave and powerful piece that tackles a challenging and sensitive subject. Congrats to all who have contributed.
