My West Virginia Home

Story Behind The Song

A person has a family and home by chance, but can also have one by choice. One we are born into, one our heart chooses for us. Many times they are not the same. Ohio is my Home by chance but my heart is in West Virginia.

Song Length 2:50 Genre Folk - General

Lyrics

MY WEST VIRGINIA HOME

There?s many a mile that?s come between us
For there?s many a days that I roam;
But there?s many a smile that always brings me
Back to my West Virginia home.
Now the birds all sing before the sun starts rising
And the darkness will be overthrown
By those memories that are always with me
Of the mountains of my West Virginia home.

The trees grow tall in West Virginia
And the rivers run wild and free;
So I let my mind take me back through time,
West Virginia is the place I long to be.

The fog lies low through all the valleys
And makes this journey seems so slow;
But the sun shines bright on the sides of the mountains
Like the love I have for my West Virginia home.

You can take the high road or you can take the low road,
Just choose for yourself which way to go;
But I made up my mind before this life is over,
I?m going back to my West Virginia home.
