The Winter

Story Behind The Song

This is a development of my song Stronger, which lacked impact and was a bit ploddy. I wanted to give it the 'Take That' treatment and go for a more commercial sound. I will also be putting together a rockier version soon hopefully with the help of my fellow band members.....

Lyrics

Why must I hide how I really feel
When all I want to do is to be there with you
In this place that I called our home
You betrayed my trust
now I'm lost and all alone

Take me back to the winter,
to the fire,
to the passion that still remains
In the winter
there was fire
in every ounce of blood in my veins

You said you'd be there for me I was the one for you
Now I'm looking a reason to take you back
And if I think about the things you did
It cuts me to the bone inside
Do you know just what you've done to me
you should never have lied

Take me back to the winter,
to the fire,
to the passion that still remains
In the winter
there was fire
in every ounce of blood in my veins

Without my home, I'm lost again
And feeling like a ship adrift at sea
On a stormy night
Trying to find my way to you
But the waves of doubt
Prevent me from getting home

Take me back to the winter,
to the fire,
to the passion that still remains
In the winter
there was fire
in every ounce of blood in my veins

I just can't control it
I'm still in love with you
Seems like all that I do
It brings me back to you
I want to go back to the time
When all was right with me

Take me back to the winter, to the fire,
to the passion that still remains
In the winter, there was fire,
In every ounce of blood in my veins

Take me back to the winter,
to the fire,
to the passion that still remains
In the winter
there was fire
in every ounce of blood in my veins

Love the drum beat on this one ! So many things to like with the backing , it kept me entertained from beginning to the end .

Oooo, so smooth! This sweet melancholy tune fits so nicely for a calm, quiet contemplative evening. It sounds like a single release from one of your favorite pop albums. Silky strings, arranged like satin, gently beating piano keys. Melody is very nice and memorable. Lyrics may not say anything new but they really don't have to. This is mood music and it's the feeling it gets across that's important, and this song does it very well.

I really like the intro's mood and texture. It' simple but effective. I like what you're doing with the backing vocal sections. They're a nice contrast to the lead vocal part.

The instrumentation is beautiful! And the lyrics are totally unique.

Good vocals. Nicely recorded. Reminds me a little of Richard Marks. I could clearly hear the melody, hook, beat, and instrumentation. The recording is a solid demo.

Easy listening pop music.

Here's a classic that feels like an 80's upbeat ballad type tune that has a beautiful nostalgic essence to it that I miss from back in the day that needs to make a come back. Potetic interpretation of the ship in the sea lost, etc...is nice and create a vivid concept, the winter cold and craving to be warm again..LOVE IT! I can feel the confusion of should there be reconciliation or let it go from the hurtful past so strong!

Sounds like a song I've hears before. Cannot quite place the instrumental to where I have but that threw it off for me. The style I believe was not something you can place in a pop genre as that is more folk sounding to me. I would've considered it an alternative new age folk song if I had to place it in any genre.

I like the lyrics, the vocal can be lifted.

Very well written, well arranged and smooth flowing piece. Good background vocals. Very professional sounding effort. Really good hook. The fadeout is very pleasing.

Instruments are well mixed. Real Alan Parsons vibe. Good programming for the drums, sound like how a real drummer would approach the song.
Nice background vocals. Parts are constructed well. Strings well placed in the mix. Well produced song. Also enjoyed the background vocal arrangement. I usually don't like long fade outs but this one was very interesting with the piano theme fading, enjoyed that.

Marketable track with the right production.

Potential with the song
Chorus grows on you
good effort

Oh man, I really like this song. I can imagine driving A1A with this flowing from my stereo. Wonderful flow. Great Job

Very emotional track, original melodies and sounds here.

Very smooth production, excellent vocals and overall arrangement. Good choices on instruments and parts. Melodic structure is solid and well composed.
