Cool

Story Behind The Song

The lyrics to this tracks kinda just poured out. I fiddled around with the acoustic guitar riff which sounded like a samba type thing. Then, I just added a basic TOP groove with a little Steely Dan attitude to the vocals. Throw a little tasty blues (Clapton) electric guitar riffs and wammo! There it is!

Song Description

Using the setting of San Diego, the idea was to create an attitude about change and the opportunity that everyone has to either accept it or shun it away. Change, indifference, attitude is all great- but does anyone actually care enough to visualize your life, love, whatever- the same way you do?

Traffic lights on the bright side of the bay
The change of color sent the lost souls on their way
Never take the time to evolve with the scene
Electric cars and a satellite phone in your face
-don't you forget your place

(Chorus)
You can't weep, you can't talk
You can't show anybody which way to walk
You sing your lonely songs down by the sea
That may be cool with you, but it ain't too cool with me

Break out for the sun as you run from the night
The stars will catch you and they'll let you know
-you're feelin' all right
You try to make a change, re-define what you see
Rip the cover of the stone-age picture of me
-too much technology

(Chorus)
You can't weep, you can't talk
You can't show anybody which way to walk
You sing your lonely songs down by the sea
That may be cool with you, but it ain't too cool with me

This magazine says your fortune's comin' round today
With a smile so clean they never knew you's was afraid
and still you're feelin' fine- go on sell off your dreams
Here's your live design it's not at all what it seems
-just one big plastic scene

(Chorus)
You can't weep, you can't talk
You can't show anybody which way to walk
You sing your lonely songs down by the sea
That may be cool with you, but it ain't too cool with me
No, no , no
