Song Description
One of the first songs I ever wrote, written right after Jerry Garcia died in 95. I travelled all over the country back then (not in a bus like I do now) and wrote about things I saw. I met a girl in Cali and fell hard, but had to leave her because she was crazy. That's about all....

Lyrics
I woke up beside the ocean and i looked into the waves
I saw a sweet goodbye behind my Carolina mountain high
I remember when I kissed someone here
And I recall the fire in her eyes
Maybe that setting sun will tell a tale I've told a thousand times
To this Carolina mountain sky
I met Jesus in New Orleans, I saw a tye-dyed tear fall from his eye
You might say that Jerry's dead and gone, but I still hear him laughing in his songs
And as the sky falls down and the world spins 'round
And all that I have found has come unwound
I say, now, everything, lord, everything is fine
Brother, can you spare a dime?
Bittersweet, oh, now ain't it bittersweet
Bittersweet.....
I took my thoughts away from California
I'm going home again, and I don't know if I'll stay
If she thinks of me just one more time before the day she dies
I swear my tears won't be in vain
Tell me, do you miss the music, do you even care at all?
Are you an illiterate, or do you choose not to read the writing
On the wall of your soul? Does your blood run cold when you
Feel you're growing old?
Bittersweet, oh, now ain't it bittersweet
Bittersweet.......
No more fear, I see the light from here.
