Story Behind The Song
This song was written after I quit my dream job as a Television Anchor in Kingston, Jamaica and I set off to New York city in hopes of landing a bigger dream job with a major broadcasting network. When my attempts failed, I was back in my home studio in Jamaica - I picked up my guitar and every morning I sang, I wrote & I played. I felt stripped of all the things that I thought defined me and without an answer for what was next. This season reminded me of when you've been in the worst fight of your life with the one you love and you've done & said every wrong thing you possibly could - and finally you're exposed to that person. For me - I felt exposed to the journey I have with life, with God & with my destiny. I wanted to write a song that woud speak to many hearts because we all feel naked at some point in time.
Song Description
'Naked' written by Naomi Cowan, daughter of Reggae legends Tommy Cowan & Carlene Davis. An ecclectic, soothing pop ballad that reminds everyone of a time where they felt like they had nothing left in the world but themselves. Naomi's musical influences include Corinne Bailey Rae, Justin Nozuka, Alicia Keys, & Kari Jobe. Naked was written by Naomi on her acoustic guitar & she partnered with Phillip Meyers on the full production in Jamaica. Tommy Cowan is the Executive Producer of the song and it was released through VPAL the digital arm of VP Records.
