Song Description

I wrote this song while traveling from Georgia to Upper Michigan a few summers ago. It pains me to see all the destruction of our beautiful woodlands. It is truly out of control, but feel powerless to stop it.

Lyrics

This road that I'm on takes me father
To the edge of what I must find
From the city lights I travel to find her
In the mountains of South Caroline
In the rivers I watch her winding
her light captured in the morning sky
Her waters flowing remind me
Of the tale that my life will unwind

Chorus
Oh, I travel this road
Searching soals of life never told
Oh, I long to go
To the place where we never grow old
To the place where we never grow old

Trees tell a story of the ages
countless women baring their truth
But the world keeps on building thier cages
to hide us from everlasting youth
In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains
I hear the wind blowing clarity
And gazing apon her beauty
knowledge of the truth takes hold of me

Chorus

Standing on her warm, sandy heart
I feel her love rising through me
Her blaket holds the wisdom of our father
bringing life up to all that she meets
But her protection and healing are fading
As we rape her of all that she reaps
and no longer will she be able to hold us
as we steadily destroy earth mother's seed

Chorus
