Thank You, Jesus

Story Behind The Song

This is the second song I wrote after becoming a Christian. I was working at Lassen Volcanic National Park. A bunch of us Christian employees decided to camp out near the stream overnight. I was the first one up, got the campfire started and poof! God gave me this simple song of praise. Enjoy the "vintage recording!"

Lyrics

THANK YOU, JESUS
Copyright 1972 by Kate Carpenter

Good morning, dear Jesus
Thank You for this day.
The stream sings your praises
and me, I just pray.
Oh, thank You so much
for the gifts You bestowed.
I'm glad that You sent me
down Your one way road.

Chorus: And I sing
Thank You Jesus
Oh thank You, my Lord
I asked for salvation,
But you gave me more.

The campfire is crackling
The sun's poking through
Your children are awaking
to a new day in You.
We used to be wildflowers
but now we are tame
And so we sing praises
to our Savior's name.

The trees lift their branches
and I lift my hands
I'm called for to serve You
fulfill Your commands
But who could complain
in a labor of love
For the blessings rain down
Hundred-fold from above.

When I was so blind
I kept seeking the trail
I thought I'd found freedom
But boy, did I fail!
Thank You, my Father
for sending Your Son
The victory over this sinner is won!

very nice. done well

Well Kate....sweet religious country song...where are the kids singing?...oh yeah...covid....It'll be nice to hear with your kids choir...especially them stretching for that next to last line....and then going low on the last line...fun....

I knew this was you Kate (your name at the top helped!). Really nice positive spiritual song! This is really an oldie.....47 years....you've been at this for a while, and it shows!

beautiful voice as usual, vetran singer/songwriter

A real country song. plain and beautiful and amusing in its bare faced declaration of faith and love of God. It has no fills except the lovely voice and the simple words. Better than a sermon it is, in its simplicity, wise and unpretentious. It is an accomplishment to combine sophisticated thought with such plain and clean-faced singing. It is subtle in its proclamation of faith, but not at all afraid of sharing. A sweet and admirable song

I love the cheerfulness of this song, and that it's a real, believable, calm, peaceful cheerfulness! I think it would be great for kids and adults alike. I just think it is done wonderfully! Thank you for writing it and sharing it!

You really know how to get the word across to children, a well constructed and positive song for them the learn and understand. You are doing a great work and God has gifted you with this amazing ability to connect with children through spiritual songs. Well done :)

I liked the lyrics, we should be Thankful to Jesus for all he has done for his children. The hook was really good, You did a good job with the music. It was a cheerful and happy song that I could see singing at church or a children's choir. What a great subject to write About!

Vocal is strong and on key. The guitar is simple, although it gets a bit repeatitive. You definitely have something here, keep working at it!

Good theme, simplicity works.

Sweet sentiments with a happy sound. Clear vocal with good pitch.
