I Cleaned Up My Act (But Now It's Dirty Again)

Story Behind The Song

The real-life experience of falling for a loser is what inspired this song. Long ago, before Molly and Sonny Boy got together Molly met an enchanting young, emotionally-ill man who drove her back to drinking. However, Molly retrieved her common sense after she learned that the only road she was on, was a dead end one, if she continued in such a toxic relationship. This is her cry for help in the midst of all the mayhem and agony of slip-ups and backsliding.

Song Description

Molly wrote this song about a heartbroken woman who is trying to avoid alcohol but can't keep away from the high life when she is disappointed in love.

Lyrics

I cleaned up my act but now it's dirty again
It's a low-down cryin' shame
I cleaned up my act but now it's dirty again
I'm headin' back down the drain
No, It ain't worth complain' if I ain't gonna change
Cuz chage is hard to do.
I cleaned up my act but then I slipped in the mud
It was all because of you.
