Song Description

Expressing feelings of anger and disappointment in someone who portrayed themselves to be something they are not and if you would never have let them in your life, you wouldn't have felt this pain and anguish.

Story Behind the Song

I was dating a man and thought he was the one - he said all of the right things but when I became pregnant he ran. The song was my way of expressing the betrayal I felt, but in a strange way, thanking him for changing my l life by giving me a daughter.

Lyrics

If I'd never known you I wouldn't be so scarred
I wouldn't have known your betrayal
or been so disarmed

If I'd wouldn't have met you I'd never have to explain
how I could have been so wrong
how I lost my heart again

Sometimes I lie awake at night
whisper curses on your name
It feels so dark even in the light
no I'll never be the same

If I'd never saw you I never would have known
that the tenderness of your caress would turn so cold
If I'd never kissed you I never would have heard your lies
And that the sweetest thing I've ever known would be what you deny

Sometimes I lie awake at night
whisper curses on your name
and I know you won't make this right
I'll never be the same
I'll never be the same
no no no no

If I'd never met you I wouldn't know the pain
or what it's like to love like this
no I would not be so changed

If I'd never known you I wouldn't be a better woman today
Cause' when I look in my daughters eyes
I can't help but feel I'm saved
Oh yes, I've been saved
And I'll never be the same
I'll never be the same
