Story Behind The Song
I wrote/recorded this as a favor to a local animal rescue organization I volunteer for. They used it for a presentation at a holiday party and in a small promotional video. I wanted to write a song that showed the shelter from the animal's point of view.
Note: I own the rights to the song. The music breaks were put into to accommodate narration. Additional music can easily be put in those spots...or the song can be re-recorded in a shorter version if required.
Song Description
Written from the viewpoint of cats/dogs in a shelter, waiting to be adopted. The word "cat" and "dog" are intentionally left out of the song.
Since dogs and cats love us "uncondionally", that became the hook - in the first and last verse, and repeated in the chorus.

Lyrics
Take a look in my eyes
Tell me what you see
Are you looking for a friend lik me?
I'm behind the bars as you walk by
Don't want you do know I'm scared inside
But I'd go with you unconditionally
Unconditionally (I'd be your friend)
Unconditionally (I got time to spend)
Take a close look you'll see
Unconditionally
I've met saints along this road
Falling in love and letting go
Volunteers and doctors who
Sheltered me and healed my wounds
And held me while I held to the thought of you
Unconditionally (I'd be your friend)
Unconditionally (I got time to spend)
Take a close look you'll see
Unconditionally
Take a look in my eyes
Tell me what you see
I'm going home
I got someplace to be
Sometimes it's easy to forget
A stranger's a friend you haven't met
And I'd go with you unconditionally
Unconditionally (I'd be your friend)
Unconditionally (I got time to spend)
Take a close look you'll see
Unconditionally
We're waiting here unconditionally
Unconditionally
Unconditionally
