Song Description

Either a male or female could sing this song. It must be very light on instrumentation as the lyrics are the driving force. The deeper the voice the better. This song should be performed at the very start of the service to set the tone of the next hour or so. I envision it being sung a second time when everyone is leaving. I think is is a very powerful a well intended song to give the family inner peace to let them know their loved one is conversant with Lord Jesus and Eternal Rest is possible with the Blessing from the Son of God.

Story Behind the Song

In a short period of time, it seems I attented a dozen funerals - mostly Filipino Funerals. Filipino Funerals are great. They have the best food. They have countless photos of the "celebrant" so you get to know their entire life and it is truly a happy occasions for the attendees. For the family of course it is a sad occasion but for everyone else it is terrific get together. There is music but the music is the worse. It is the kind that can put you in a early grave. The choir can do nothing to make the music pleasant. It is in this very confused upset despondent state that I decided to write the best new funeral song there is - so I did. There is no reason my song Let Me Live Forever in Your Heart cannot become the new funeral standard song in the country. Every funeral will have this new song to put things in perspective. A new funeral song was sorely needed in the USA and I came through.

Lyrics

LET ME LIVE FOREVER IN YOUR HEART
Words & music by Michael Akin © 2007

Take my hand and lead me to my resting place
Let my soul be blessed forever in your grace
Take my love of life I had with you
After all my life belongs to you

Let me live forever in your heart
Let me live forever in your heart
Let me live forever in your heart
Let me live forever in your heart

As I let my body go to dust
My soul is with the Lord I trust
And I won't feel no sense of dark and cold
With You I have eternal light towarm my soul

Let me live forever in your heart
Let me live forever in your heart
Let me live forever in your heart
Let me live forever in your heart

So take me to my final rest
Smile upon all the good deeds you have blessed
And I won't feel no sense of dark and cold
With you I have eternal light to warm my soul
Repeat Chorus two times
