Lyrics

New York Hooker

A' left ma' home in Southern California
Left ma' friends and all ma' family
Left it all in Southern California
A' couldn't live with what they wanted from me

Hit the apple back in early summer
Sun on ma' body made me wanna' stay
Hit the apple back in early summer
Heat on ma' skin had to get me a lay

Lay me down beside a New York Hooker
Offered money she said put it away
She wore red heels and she was a looker
Gave me head then she asked me to stay

A' learned about candy from ma' New York Hooker
She cut me lines that blew me away
She'd get high when sadness overtook her
It's a price that she's willing to pay

Spending Christmas with ma' New York Hooker
Church bells been ringing since the break of day
It wasn't breakfast that she watched me cook her
Her empty eyes looking so far away

I said goodbye to ma' New York Hooker
She's so wasted that she wants me to pay
A' gave ma' heart to a New York Hooker
She broke ma' heart then she threw it away

I got lucky with a New York Hooker
Wonder what she's doing today
I fell in love with a New York Hooker
I'm sorry that I left her that way
