Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song to celebrate the way the Christmas season is observed on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Song Description

The Song describes the way the Christmas season is celebrated on Cape Cod as a "Christmas by the Sea" with Santa arriving by boat, snow on the sand dunes, etc.

Christmas on Cape Cod,
Come share the festivity
Of a Christmas by the Sea!
Where the children all will flock
To greet Santa on the dock,
When he arrives by boat.
And the harbors glow at night,
When boats decked in Christmas lights
Form a big parade that floats.

Christmas on Cape Cod,
Snowflakes on the salty air
And the white caps wreath the bay.
See a rare and wondrous sight
On a silvery moonlit night
When snow lies on the dunes.
Hear the reindeers' prancing hooves
On the saltbox cottage roofs,
While Santa hums his tunes,
On his rounds through all the towns.

Oh, Christmas on Cape Cod
Feel the warmth and welcoming
Of an olde-time Christmas Stroll.
Village inns, and homes and shops
Are inviting you to stop
For cider and for Christmas sweets.
Fancy garlands grace their doors,
And folks dressed as in days of yore
Mingle with you on the streets.
It's a most enchanting scene
When they light the village green.

Oh, come along and feel the magic
Meant for me and you.
There have never been so many
Lovely things to do:
Like, gathering boughs of holly,
Skating on the bogs,
Going for a hayride
In the brisk December fog.
