Song Description
The song starts with a guitar intro leading into the main theme. The intervallic guitar melody counteracts against a poly-rhythmic layer of strings, bass, piano and drums.
After a short interlude th eguitar continues the ideas of the main theme in form of a guitar solo. Then a new theme is introduced. It's much calmer and is the basis for the following piano solo which starts after a second interlude. A third but slightly different interlude brings the listener back to the main theme which is played twice. However, the second time a rhythmic modulation adds tension. The end features a more modern sound: Lydian #9.
The composition incorporates classical aspects in form of string arrangements and form development. It features Jazz elements by utilising a classical Jazz guitar quartet and improvised solos. There is also an aspect of world music incorporated which becomes apparent in the poly-rhythmic arrangements. Last but not least a touch of progressive rock is recognizable. The entire tune is a reflection of the composer's musical journey so far: Mathias started learning classical music at a very young age, continuing with various Rock styles through his teens, including Progressive Rock and finally studying Jazz.
