Story Behind The Song
It was about three years after my friend's son died and she called me on the phone. She was really sad because it was around the time of year that her son died (March) and also around the time of his birthday (same month). So I got off the phone and wrote her a song.
Song Description
I wanted to write a song for my friend because she was feeling so bad about her son. I wanted to let her know that there were friends and family around that also felt her "lonesome pain".

Lonesome Pain
You called me up to tell me that your feeling blue today.
Just go ahead and cry, you can't be tough all the time.
I think that you should know that you don't deserve
To hold on to that burden of lonesome pain.
And I also know that there's too many
Painfully sweet memories and lost hopes and dreams
About what could have been.
Chorus
When you lose someone that you love
With all your heart and soul.
You feel that lonesome pain everyday.
And even though no one or nothing
Could ever make that go away
I just wanted you to know that your not alone
With your lonesome pain.
You work so hard and try so hard to stay busy every day.
You do your best to hide your pain behind your smiling face.
But loneliness surrounds you in your own little world
Where no one else can go it's nice to know
On a day like today
That you are not alone with your lonesome pain.
(chorus)
You always get a little bluer around this time of the year
It's supposed to be happy birthday time, but you just end up in tears.
When the sadness grabs a hold of you and squeezes at your heart again
Just remember you're not alone with that lonesome pain.
(chorus)
