Story Behind The Song
I wanted to write a song about South Dakota, to try to summarize all the things I see about the state. I approached my guitar teacher, Dave, about it, and he came up with the tune and style of the song, I did the lyrics.
Song Description
Poetic, visual and catchy song about South Dakota; however, it could apply to many places, as many states have a river, farmers, cattle...and wind, certainly wind!

Lyrics
There's a land in my heart,
I will always remember
It's beauty of life, beckons my soul
Like the geese who follow the calling of wonder
Guiding with love, taking me home
Oh South Dakota, to the land I belong
Brother to the wind, mighty and strong
Sweet smell of hay,
From fields full of green
God's beauty I've seen
People of earth who live by the spirit
Drumbeats echo, the cycles of life
Farmers that toil and plant with their true grit
Stars that sparkle above in the night
Oh South Dakota, to the land I belong
Brother to the wind, mighty and strong
Great river flows,
Thru fields full of green
God's beauty I've seen
Coyotes who howl a mournful night's chorus
Carved rocks majestic look down on the land
Wildlife abundant in prairies before us
Canvas of beauty by God's awesome hand
Oh South Dakota, to the land I belong
Brother to the wind, mighty and strong
Cattle abound,
In fields full of green
God's beauty I've seen
