Story Behind The Song
My father passed away really unexpectedly in July 2005. I didn't know what to do with myself, everyone was telling me to be strong and kept saying things like "time will heal" and "do what makes it better" so I did. After a while things did get better, but one day I had a real guilt feeling, I hadn't thought of my father that day. It hurt! I sat down at my piano and I wrote this song within fifteen minutes. Every word makes sense in this song, I have had an amazing response from everyone who has heard it. In some way or another, every ear that falls on this song can relate to it... I am absolutely astounded at the ability of writing such a powerful song. Winning this competition will hopefully get it to many more ears... x

Lyrics
Fade (Words and Music by: Martin Goddard)
Is this the day you fade away?
I haven?t thought of you today
I held on, where have they gone?
Have the memories all blown away?
I haven?t thought of you today
They say time will heal, time will help you over
I?m not nonchalant but today you just weren?t there
Don?t fade, don?t fade,
Don?t fade away day by day I hope and pray
Please don?t fade, don?t fade,
Though you?re gone, you?ll live on, there?s no 'so long'
Please don?t fade?
The photographs in my mind
Must have turned to grey
I haven?t though of you today
They say try your best and do what makes it better
Does living bon vivant mean that I don?t care?
Don?t fade, don?t fade,
Don?t fade away day by day I hope and pray
Please don?t fade, don?t fade,
Though you?re gone, you?ll live on, there?s no 'so long'
Please don?t fade?
