Song Description

A Christmas song about the manger.

Story Behind the Song

Went with a sermon that I preached about having no room in our hearts for the Christ Child.

Lyrics

NO ROOM Christian/Inspirational

VERSE 1
Is there no room for two weary travelers?
Ordered to Bethlehem, to be counted they've come.
No room to rest their feet or lay down their heads.
There are no rooms, there are no beds.

Is there no room for a mother-to-be?
For a family of two about to be three
They've walked here from Galilee
They've been walking for miles.
It's a long way to walk when you're heavy with child.

CHORUS
But the innkeeper said, "No room, no room. No room at the inn.
No room, no room anywhere in Bethlehem.
Can't you see how crowded we are?
Everyone here has walked just as far as you have,
And there's no room at all."

VERSE 2
Then the innkeeper's wife saw the girl's weary face
And she said to her husband, "We do have a place.
It's not very fancy, but it's safe and it's warm.
And that girl needs a place for her babe to be born."
So she led them to the stable and gave them fresh hay.
She brought them some dinner and she said, "You may stay."

CHORUS
But there is "No room, no room. No room at the inn.
No room, no room anywhere in Bethlehem.
Can't you see how crowded we are?
Everyone here has walked just as far as you have,
And there's no room at all; no room but this stall."

VERSE 3
Then sometime that night between darkness and dawn
A baby was born as the animals looked on
And high in God's heaven the angels did sing
But here on God's earth a manger cradled a king.

CHORUS
For there was No room, no room. No room at the inn.
No room, no room anywhere in Bethlehem.
Shepherd's and wise men followed the star
Everyone there had come from afar to bow down,
And worship the child.
And the angels sang Alleluia to the newborn King
Alleluia! Hear their voices ring.
Can't you see how blest we are
When we make room in our hearts for the Savior
And let him come in. And let him come in.
Let the Savior come in.
